This particular expression of the “Sherwood” is constructed with steel & cast iron & finished in an illusion cherry powder coat. It is accented with polished brass bars, collars & cradles, created by skilled artisans. Each post is adorned with the choice of a genuine, Black Tourmaline* finial or prismatic, cut crystal.

(*Because natural gemstone finials are used, color, size & shape will vary slightly)

Our beds come complete with headboard, footboard, & frame (this includes             the side rails, slats, & center T-bar*), all in a coordinating finish. True to the originals, the side rails are dovetailed. The remainder of the frame has been uniquely engineered for additional sturdiness and strength.

Black Tourmaline is a pneumatolytic product consisting of quartz, tourmaline, & often, white mica. It usually has a silvery, glittering appearance from the abundance of layered muscovite crystals & is one of the most aesthetic black minerals known. For centuries, many cultures have had different beliefs about what virtues tourmaline can bring. For example, In 18th Century literature, Barbara Walker cites references, which considered this stone to be helpful to artists, authors, actors and those in creative fields. Other cultures believe it to have various protective qualities.

Lead glass, commonly called crystal, is a variety of glass in which lead replaces the calcium content of a typical potash glass.The addition of lead oxide to glass raises its refractive index, increasing dispersion, which measures the degree to which a medium separates light into its component spectra, as in a prism. Crystal cutting techniques exploit these properties to create a brilliant, sparkling effect as each cut facet reflects and transmits light through the object.
